Anglo-Chinese Junior College
ACJC began operating at Dover Close East on 3 January 1977 with 968 students, according to MOE’s Heritage Centre. Its roots lie in the wider ACS family founded by Methodist missionary William Fitzjames Oldham in 1886, but the junior college has its own later history. The heritage account records a sports complex completed in 1995, upgraded academic facilities in 2002 and a performing arts centre opened in 2008. These explain part of the college’s emphasis on activities alongside A Levels.
The college offers a two-year A-level programme with H1, H2 and H3 subjects. Its academic page describes introductory lectures and subject counselling to help students choose with university entry requirements in view; H3 selection takes place at the end of JC1. The subject directory includes English Language and Linguistics, Theatre Studies, Music and Computing alongside the more familiar sciences and humanities. A directory is only the starting point: the permitted combination, prerequisites and timetable need to match the student’s intended course.
St. Andrew's Junior College
SAJC admitted its first 600 arts and science students on 3 January 1978 at Malan Road and officially opened in June 1979. Its founding involved the Anglican Church, with the Lutheran and Presbyterian Churches joining the building project. The college moved to Potong Pasir in December 2005 and became part of St Andrew’s Village, officially opened in August 2006. The 2023 celebration marked SAJC’s 45th anniversary. The wider Saints heritage dates further back, but should not be confused with the college’s own founding date.
The 2026 course page offers three H2 plus one H1 content subject, or four H2 subjects, with a contrasting discipline required. Four H2 eligibility is a raw L1R5 of nine or better; candidates with ten or eleven and A1 in relevant subjects may appeal for consideration. Combinations depend on sufficient demand, and four-H2 pupils are reviewed at assessment milestones for coping. Further Mathematics appears in specified combinations, rather than unrestricted mixing. Families should check the intended university course’s prerequisites and the next cohort’s published offer, rather than assume a 2026 combination will always run.

Questions about these schools
How should I choose between Anglo-Chinese Junior College and St. Andrew's Junior College?
Start with programmes, the CCAs your child wants and the actual journey from home. Visit both schools to assess the daily environment. Counts and past results alone do not establish which school fits your child.
Do past admission records guarantee a place?
No. Check the current course's subject requirements, aggregate system and posting rules. Historical cut-offs do not guarantee a future place.
