Both are solid East zone schools with similar COP ranges and SYF track records. Bedok View brings nearly five decades of heritage and broader DSA pathways, while Greendale offers a slightly more competitive entry bar at the top and a richer CCA menu for the activity-hungry kid.
Consider Bedok View Secondary School if…
- 8 DSA areas gives more pathways for talented students
- 48-year heritage means deep alumni networks and staff stability
Consider Greendale Secondary School if…

- COP ceiling of 11 signals a slightly more selective peer environment
Let your child's strengths — DSA ambitions versus CCA breadth — be the tiebreaker here.

Bedok View Secondary School
Bedok View began in temporary premises in 1977 and moved to 6 Bedok South Avenue 3 in January 1978. Its official opening followed in September 1979, as the first government secondary school built in Bedok New Town. MOE’s history records the completion of PRIME upgrading in 2005, including an indoor sports hall and synthetic soccer field. The school’s global-awareness and values programmes were both accorded their ALP and LLP status in 2015.
BV Navigator gives different tasks to different year groups. Secondary 1 focuses on responsible consumption and production, with examples such as portable composting devices and cardboard chairs. Secondary 2 applies design thinking to a Singapore issue linked to one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In Secondary 3, students choose one project area: STEM innovation, global leadership, or communication and digital skills. Secondary 4 and 5 move towards self-initiated external projects and mentoring younger students. Competitions and model-government events are examples within the programme, rather than activities every student necessarily attends.
Greendale Secondary School
Greendale Secondary welcomed its first 320 Secondary 1 pupils on 2 January 2006 and officially opened in 2007. MOE records its first Secondary 4 graduating cohort in 2009, the launch of design-and-engineering and outdoor-adventure programmes in 2014, and Subject-Based Banding for the 2017 Secondary 1 cohort. Those milestones describe the secondary school’s development; they should not be confused with nearby Greendale Primary or used as current subject-placement criteria.
The ALP gives Secondary 1 pupils coding and electronics work with Arduino, including LEDs, buzzers and servo motors, alongside CAD and 3D printing. Secondary 2 adds Annikken Andee interfaces that control projects from mobile devices, plus exposure to AI and drones. The SIT Community Challenge brings pupils together with community organisations to develop solutions and pitch them to judges. The published programme awards YEA (Applied Learning) after completing the Secondary 1–2 programme. Overseas STEM trips and upper-secondary competitions involve selected students.
