How to choose between them

Broadrick's COP range of 5–22 is one of the widest in Singapore, meaning it genuinely serves students across the full spectrum — rare and valuable. East Spring is a solid neighbourhood school, but its single DSA area and narrower range leave families with fewer pathways in.

Consider Broadrick Secondary School if…

  • Exceptional COP range (5–22) opens doors for almost any AL score
  • 3 SYF Distinctions signals a genuinely strong performing arts culture

Consider East Spring Secondary School if…

  • Newer campus infrastructure built with modern learning in mind
  • Focused CCA portfolio can mean tighter community and team culture

If your child has a clear passion — especially in the arts — Broadrick's depth of programmes is hard to beat in the East.

Get to know each school

Broadrick Secondary School

Broadrick was founded in 1968 at Dunman Road with Chinese- and English-stream students, becoming English-medium in 1985. MOE’s Heritage Centre records mergers with Maju in 1996, Telok Kurau in 2011 and MacPherson in 2017. The current campus is at 61 Dakota Crescent. The school’s own heritage page places it within the wider Mountbatten neighbourhood, including Dakota’s former public housing and Kallang Airport. This history helps explain why more than one former school community is represented in today’s Broadrick.

The current ALP page describes foundational learning in Secondary 1 and 2 through Geography, Design and Technology, and Code for Fun. More advanced Secondary 3 opportunities are for pupils with strong interest and aptitude. The science page gives examples including designing sustainability prototypes, working with NIE researchers and a mentoring project for outdoor workers facing heat. These are useful descriptions of what students make and investigate. The selected programmes should not be presented as an automatic experience for every pupil.

East Spring Secondary School

East Spring Secondary was established in 1999, initially operating at Junyuan Secondary before moving to Tampines Street 34. In 2019 it merged with East View Secondary, retaining the East Spring name and campus. The combined school adopted East View's Health Science ALP, replacing the earlier energy-themed programme recorded in MOE's history. Older reviews may therefore describe either predecessor school or a different programme. The history has differing entries for the exact campus-move year, so that detail is not treated as settled here.

The Mathematics department describes a Learning Support Programme for pupils with lower readiness, alongside ACE and Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad opportunities for higher-readiness learners. Classroom tools include GeoGebra and manipulatives, with an online resource repository and tasks applying maths to daily life. The school records competition results and an overseas learning journey, but these do not establish participation for every pupil or comparative teaching quality. Families should ask how support and enrichment placements are identified and reviewed, including for subjects taken at different levels.
