Get to know each school
Jurong West Secondary School
Jurong West Secondary began on 2 January 2001 at Jalan Boon Lay and moved to its present 3.1-hectare campus on 18 March 2002. Its history records an indoor sports hall added in 2009 and later spaces such as the Book Room, Learning Hive and Loft. The school was an early subject-based-banding prototype school in 2014, before joining the Full SBB pilot from 2020. Those dates explain its experience with mixed subject levels, without serving as evidence of comparative academic results.
The ALP, Harnessing Technology in Authentic Contexts, uses project work across Art, English and ICT in Secondary 1 and 2. Pupils choose between augmented-reality application development, mobile applications and micro:bit physical computing, with training matched to that choice. They develop digital artefacts to communicate ideas or propose solutions to social issues. The page also describes exhibitions and outside showcases, but marks its opportunity examples as 2016–2022. Those older events should be read as past examples, rather than this year’s confirmed itinerary.
Presbyterian High School
The first Li Sun High School pupils arrived on 4 January 1965 at premises lent by Ming Sin School, off Upper Serangoon Road. The name honoured missionary Alan S. Moore Anderson through his Chinese name. The move to Ang Mo Kio and adoption of the Presbyterian High name came in the 1980s. MOE’s heritage account records PRIME redevelopment in 2000 and the opening of the new premises in 2004. Its Christian mission remains part of the school’s stated character-development approach.
The current ALP covers all lower-secondary pupils through Health and Food Science. Secondary 1 pupils use design thinking to prototype soap products and test their effectiveness in reducing virus transmission; the page also describes AI-assisted packaging design. Secondary 2 pupils code micro:bit prototypes around food security. A separate Tier 2 offers learning journeys and STEM competitions, including app development. These descriptions should not be confused with the older forensic and pharmaceutical science programme in the school’s history.
