Montfort Secondary School
MOE’s history traces Montfort to 1916 and records the separation of junior and secondary schools in 1974. The school’s history describes the move to Hougang Avenue 8 in January 1992 and return after PRIME upgrading in January 2012. The primary school’s 2028 admission of girls does not mean secondary entry changes in that year. In CNA’s April 2026 report, St Gabriel’s Foundation and MOE were still discussing secondary arrangements, while the foundation chairman intended girls to continue there when the first primary cohort graduated. Confirm the eventual secondary intake announcement.
Sec 1 ALP introduces programming, microcontrollers and electronics through design-thinking challenges. Sec 2 adds cloud computing and AI/ML examples, including image recognition, chatbots and self-driving-vehicle training, alongside more advanced electronics. One final product described is a blockchain-inspired smart savings bank that records spending and automates deposits. Further 3D-printing and laser-cutting workshops sit in Tier 2; Maker Club provides a CCA route for fabrication and tinkering. The progression distinguishes broad classroom exposure from the additional opportunities available to interested students.

Woodlands Ring Secondary School
Woodlands Ring Secondary received its first 395 Secondary 1 pupils on 2 January 1998, with 15 teachers. Fuchun Secondary had begun on 2 January 1986 with 109 pupils and nine teachers. Their merger was completed in January 2025. The current school publishes both histories, including Fuchun’s earlier performing-arts development and Woodlands Ring’s robotics background. This matters when reading reviews: a graduate’s pre-2025 timetable, facilities, subjects or friendships describe a predecessor cohort, rather than automatically represent the merged school’s current experience.
The Future of Transportation ALP has a Tier 1 programme for all Secondary 1 and 2 pupils. Secondary 1 uses LEGO Spike Prime and Scratch-based drag-and-drop coding to build and programme robots for transport challenges. Secondary 2 starts with Tinkercad Circuits simulation before using physical Arduino systems, including LEDs, sensors and robot-car movement. Tier 2 deepens learning through Robotics and Singapore Youth Flying Club CCAs. Aviation examples include gliders, model aircraft, drones and a flight simulator. These are distinct routes; broad ALP exposure does not guarantee a flying-club place or a pilot licence.
