Get to know each school

Bedok View Secondary School

Bedok View began in temporary premises in 1977 and moved to 6 Bedok South Avenue 3 in January 1978. Its official opening followed in September 1979, as the first government secondary school built in Bedok New Town. MOE’s history records the completion of PRIME upgrading in 2005, including an indoor sports hall and synthetic soccer field. The school’s global-awareness and values programmes were both accorded their ALP and LLP status in 2015.

BV Navigator gives different tasks to different year groups. Secondary 1 focuses on responsible consumption and production, with examples such as portable composting devices and cardboard chairs. Secondary 2 applies design thinking to a Singapore issue linked to one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In Secondary 3, students choose one project area: STEM innovation, global leadership, or communication and digital skills. Secondary 4 and 5 move towards self-initiated external projects and mentoring younger students. Competitions and model-government events are examples within the programme, rather than activities every student necessarily attends.

Montfort Secondary School

MOE’s history traces Montfort to 1916 and records the separation of junior and secondary schools in 1974. The school’s history describes the move to Hougang Avenue 8 in January 1992 and return after PRIME upgrading in January 2012. The primary school’s 2028 admission of girls does not mean secondary entry changes in that year. In CNA’s April 2026 report, St Gabriel’s Foundation and MOE were still discussing secondary arrangements, while the foundation chairman intended girls to continue there when the first primary cohort graduated. Sec 1 ALP introduces programming, microcontrollers and electronics through design-thinking challenges. Sec 2 adds cloud computing and AI/ML examples, including image recognition, chatbots and self-driving-vehicle training, alongside more advanced electronics. One final product described is a blockchain-inspired smart savings bank that records spending and automates deposits. Further 3D-printing and laser-cutting workshops sit in Tier 2; Maker Club provides a CCA route for fabrication and tinkering. The progression distinguishes broad classroom exposure from the additional opportunities available to interested students.
