How to choose between them

Both schools sit in the East and share the same upper COP ceiling of 22, so the real question is fit, not prestige. Damai's 30-year identity and tighter top-end COP signal a school that attracts stronger academic cohorts, while Loyang View's post-merger energy and slightly wider entry range make it genuinely accessible.

Consider Damai Secondary School if…

  • Tighter top-end COP means stronger peer learning environment
  • 7 DSA pathways give talented kids more non-academic entry options

Consider Loyang View Secondary School if…

  • 19 CCAs versus 17 means more co-curricular breadth to explore
  • COP floor of 16 offers a more comfortable safety buffer

Choose Damai if your child wants sharper academic peers and more DSA routes; choose Loyang View if CCA variety and a wider COP window matter more.

Get to know each school

Damai Secondary School

Damai Secondary was established in 1993. It merged with Bedok North Secondary in 2018 at the Damai campus, retaining the Damai name. Its earlier development included PRIME upgrading in 2002–2004 and National Education and harmony-themed gardens in 2006 and 2007. This chronology matters for reviews: an alumnus describing school more than a decade ago attended before the merger, while a recent pupil experienced a different school community. Earlier facilities and partnerships should be checked before assuming they still operate in the same way.

The environmental-sciences ALP connects sustainability with several subjects. Secondary 1 studies water reuse, calculates usage and develops language-based advocacy, alongside activities such as Kayak n Klean and rooftop-farm learning. Secondary 2 combines recycled design work for seniors with food-waste learning and microgreens activities. Secondary 3 considers climate issues, composting and reducing food waste. A marine-conservation showcase is dated October 2024. These are concrete programme examples, but that dated event does not establish the current annual itinerary or how often every class visits an outside partner.

Loyang View Secondary School

Loyang View was established in 2018 through the merger of Loyang Secondary and Greenview Secondary. MOE’s history records design and engineering ALP and sports and outdoor education LLP from its founding year, a James Dyson Foundation partnership in 2021, and a student-designed polo shirt introduced in 2023. Its shared identity therefore has a specific recent beginning, even though families and alumni may remember the two predecessor schools. Historical awards are part of that record rather than a guarantee of a new pupil’s results.

The ALP describes Sec 1 pupils making solar cars from recycled materials and racing them, while Sec 2 investigates clean energy before designing a gadget for a sustainability problem. Sec 3 experiences include applied-science enrichment and work with Dyson engineers on air pollution and prototyping. All Sec 1 and 2 pupils have the opportunity to participate in STEM Playground. Families can ask how projects are assessed and which Sec 3 modules suit their child, rather than assuming an engineering partnership means every pupil receives the same industry placement.
