How to choose between them
Both are solid East Zone co-ed schools, but they suit very different kids. Damai opens more doors through DSA and has a wider academic entry range, while Meridian punches above its weight in performing arts and CCA variety. Know your child's strengths first.
Consider Damai Secondary School if…
- 7 DSA areas give more direct admission pathways
- Wider COP range means more students can qualify
Consider Meridian Secondary School if…
- 24 CCAs offer significantly more activity choices
- 2 SYF Distinctions signal a strong performing arts culture
If your child lives for the stage or wants maximum CCA options, Meridian wins — but if DSA is your strategy, Damai has the edge.

Damai Secondary School
Damai Secondary was established in 1993. It merged with Bedok North Secondary in 2018 at the Damai campus, retaining the Damai name. Its earlier development included PRIME upgrading in 2002–2004 and National Education and harmony-themed gardens in 2006 and 2007. This chronology matters for reviews: an alumnus describing school more than a decade ago attended before the merger, while a recent pupil experienced a different school community. Earlier facilities and partnerships should be checked before assuming they still operate in the same way.
The environmental-sciences ALP connects sustainability with several subjects. Secondary 1 studies water reuse, calculates usage and develops language-based advocacy, alongside activities such as Kayak n Klean and rooftop-farm learning. Secondary 2 combines recycled design work for seniors with food-waste learning and microgreens activities. Secondary 3 considers climate issues, composting and reducing food waste. A marine-conservation showcase is dated October 2024. These are concrete programme examples, but that dated event does not establish the current annual itinerary or how often every class visits an outside partner.
Meridian Secondary School
Meridian Secondary came into being in April 2016 through the union of Siglap Secondary and Coral Secondary. Coral itself had started on Siglap’s premises in 1999, so the merger reunited communities with an earlier connection. The school history describes inherited strengths in art, music, football and floorball. Those origins explain parts of its programme mix; older enrolment figures and sporting descriptions do not establish current cohort size, team ranking or an individual pupil’s prospects.
The current ALP is titled Aesthetics, broader than the Visual Communication description in the school history. Its common tier introduces Sec 1 pupils to digital photography, Southeast Asian music and Western classical music. Sec 2 pupils choose media, visual art, music or dance for deeper exploration. Extended opportunities include MAEP, EAP, Media Club and performing-arts CCAs for pupils with strong interest. Partnerships and public showcases are described as opportunities; they should not be assumed to be identical for every pupil or intake.
