How to choose between them

Both are solid East Zone schools, but they serve very different students. Dunman casts a wide net — COP 6 to 14 means it's genuinely accessible to a broad range of AL scores, with 9 DSA pathways to boot. St. Hilda's is a tighter fit: nearly a century of heritage, clear Anglican values, and a cohesive community for the right family.

Consider Dunman Secondary School if…

  • Wider COP range suits students across many AL scores
  • 9 DSA areas give more pathways for talented kids

Consider St. Hilda's Secondary School if…

  • Nearly 100-year heritage with strong Anglican community values
  • Tight COP band means a more homogeneous peer group

Pick Dunman for flexibility and options; pick St. Hilda's if heritage and values alignment matter most to your family.

Dunman Secondary School

Dunman Secondary began at Haig Road in 1963 as Dunman Integrated Secondary School, initially with three language streams. It moved to Tampines Street 45 in 1990 and gained autonomous status in 2000. MOE records its Life Sciences Training and Research Centre and East Zone science-innovation role from 2001. The original language streams and former pre-university classes are history. Families should distinguish this Tampines secondary school from Dunman High’s SAP and six-year IP arrangements; the similar English names do not imply the same curriculum.

STEMviaDT describes applying design thinking to real-world challenges, with previous projects including a karaoke app and an essential-services app for seniors. The talent-development page separately records ELIXiR+ examples such as upcycling jeans into bags, hydroponics, a load-bearing-chair challenge and competition training. Its primary-school outreach and old 2022 DSA criteria should not be mistaken for an enrolled secondary pupil’s entitlement. The examples illustrate possible work; the pages do not establish that every pupil does every specialist activity or follows one fixed project timetable.

St. Hilda's Secondary School

St Hilda’s traces its beginnings to Bethel English School, established on Ceylon Road in 1929. Archdeacon Graham White acquired it in 1934 and affiliated it to the Anglican Diocese. The school moved to Tampines and separated into primary and secondary schools in 1988; boys joined in 1989, and the two schools were officially opened in July 1990. In 2012, the secondary school’s Student Activity Centre opened with two indoor sports halls and a rooftop hockey pitch. Its 2024 ninetieth-anniversary programme included 90 Acts of Kindness. These milestones explain the school’s history without implying the primary and secondary curricula are interchangeable.

The iTHink Applied Learning Programme began with Secondary 1 in 2015. Its current description gives a progression: Secondary 1 has weekly Drama in Education lessons involving scripts, improvisation and speaking, plus an oracy project culminating in a podcast. Secondary 2 combines a local heritage learning journey with researched class debates. Secondary 3 brings together Social Studies issue investigation, CCE service and English advocacy in an integrated project. Pupils examine an issue, propose solutions and act on recommendations. These are specified learning activities; the stated aim of producing confident, caring and disciplined leaders is an aim rather than a measured result for every pupil.
