Get to know each school
East Spring Secondary School
East Spring Secondary was established in 1999, initially operating at Junyuan Secondary before moving to Tampines Street 34. In 2019 it merged with East View Secondary, retaining the East Spring name and campus. The combined school adopted East View's Health Science ALP, replacing the earlier energy-themed programme recorded in MOE's history. Older reviews may therefore describe either predecessor school or a different programme. The history has differing entries for the exact campus-move year, so that detail is not treated as settled here.
The Mathematics department describes a Learning Support Programme for pupils with lower readiness, alongside ACE and Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad opportunities for higher-readiness learners. Classroom tools include GeoGebra and manipulatives, with an online resource repository and tasks applying maths to daily life. The school records competition results and an overseas learning journey, but these do not establish participation for every pupil or comparative teaching quality. Families should ask how support and enrichment placements are identified and reviewed, including for subjects taken at different levels.
Jurong West Secondary School
Jurong West Secondary began on 2 January 2001 at Jalan Boon Lay and moved to its present 3.1-hectare campus on 18 March 2002. Its history records an indoor sports hall added in 2009 and later spaces such as the Book Room, Learning Hive and Loft. The school was an early subject-based-banding prototype school in 2014, before joining the Full SBB pilot from 2020. Those dates explain its experience with mixed subject levels, without serving as evidence of comparative academic results.
The ALP, Harnessing Technology in Authentic Contexts, uses project work across Art, English and ICT in Secondary 1 and 2. Pupils choose between augmented-reality application development, mobile applications and micro:bit physical computing, with training matched to that choice. They develop digital artefacts to communicate ideas or propose solutions to social issues. The page also describes exhibitions and outside showcases, but marks its opportunity examples as 2016–2022. Those older events should be read as past examples, rather than this year’s confirmed itinerary.
