Juying Secondary School

Juying began in 1995 at Pioneer Secondary while the former Jurong Institute premises were adapted. It moved to 33 Jurong West Street 91 on 12 June 1995 and officially opened on 18 July 1997. A 1999 extension enabled a single session; PRIME work from 2009–2012 added facilities including an indoor sports hall and dance studio. The heritage page records an earlier arts LLP, but the present LLP page describes PASSION! @ Juying, so the older programme title should not be carried forward as its current framework.

The oracy ALP gives cohort workshops and curriculum speaking opportunities from Secondary 1 to 4–5. The page describes lower-secondary show-and-tell work, Secondary 3 research and presentation training, and graduating-level interview, application-writing and e-portfolio preparation for EAE or DSA. Interested Secondary 1–2 pupils may enter a talent-development route. Speech and Drama members, student leaders and the talent pool have more extensive opportunities, such as emceeing, reporting or ambassadorship. Those selected roles and competitions are distinct from the common cohort training.

Pasir Ris Secondary School

Pasir Ris Secondary opened on 2 January 1985 as the first secondary school in Tampines, initially borrowing Chongzheng Primary’s premises. It moved to Tampines Street 21 four months later and officially opened on 20 August 1987. Single-session operations began in 2000. After PRIME upgrading during 2006–07, the school returned to its current site in January 2008. This history distinguishes it from Pasir Ris Crest Secondary, a different school. Its longstanding Pride and Responsibility motto provides background, while current programme pages explain what pupils actually undertake.

Shine@PRSS is a broad-based music and performing-arts LLP, with a progression from exposure towards specialisation. Listed experiences include Cultural Fusion modules, theatre, MUSEIT and assembly showcases. Separately, Sec 1–2 Interdisciplinary Project Work uses the UN Sustainable Development Goals: pupils research national and international sources, then investigate issues at school or community level and engage stakeholders. STEAM is integrated into lessons and supported by a festival. These programmes offer different ways to apply learning; the published list does not promise every showcase or specialist arts pathway to every pupil.
