How to choose between them

Both schools sit in the West, share identical COP ranges, and have similar track records — so this choice really comes down to what your child needs to thrive. Juying leans into character and community; Regent leans into future-ready tech skills.

Consider Juying Secondary School if…

  • Tighter school community suits kids who thrive with closer teacher bonds
  • Long-standing 1995 culture means stable programmes and experienced staff

Consider Regent Secondary School if…

  • Applied Learning Programme in Emerging Technologies gives a real edge
  • Extra DSA pathway and wider CCA spread means more doors to explore

If your child is tech-curious, Regent pulls ahead slightly — but if they need a nurturing environment to build confidence, Juying is the steadier bet.

Get to know each school

Juying Secondary School

Juying began in 1995 at Pioneer Secondary while the former Jurong Institute premises were adapted. It moved to 33 Jurong West Street 91 on 12 June 1995 and officially opened on 18 July 1997. A 1999 extension enabled a single session; PRIME work from 2009–2012 added facilities including an indoor sports hall and dance studio. The heritage page records an earlier arts LLP, but the present LLP page describes PASSION! @ Juying, so the older programme title should not be carried forward as its current framework.

The oracy ALP gives cohort workshops and curriculum speaking opportunities from Secondary 1 to 4–5. The page describes lower-secondary show-and-tell work, Secondary 3 research and presentation training, and graduating-level interview, application-writing and e-portfolio preparation for EAE or DSA. Interested Secondary 1–2 pupils may enter a talent-development route. Speech and Drama members, student leaders and the talent pool have more extensive opportunities, such as emceeing, reporting or ambassadorship. Those selected roles and competitions are distinct from the common cohort training.

Regent Secondary School

Regent Secondary opened in 2000 at Unity Secondary School before moving to 50 Choa Chu Kang North 5 in 2001. MOE records a concert-band niche in 2013, an underwater-robotics Applied Learning Programme in 2014 and community and youth leadership as its Learning for Life Programme from 2016. The current ALP page identifies resource sustainability as the focus from 2024. Families should therefore distinguish historical robotics descriptions from the programme described for today’s pupils, rather than assume the earlier provision remains unchanged.

The resource-sustainability ALP links food and water issues with subjects including English, Geography, Science, Mathematics and Nutrition & Food Science. Published examples include interdisciplinary learning journeys, student-initiated learning during home-based learning and cohort VIA projects with community partners. A second tier offers external forums, competitions and conservation advocacy. These are described opportunities, not confirmation that every pupil takes every trip or competition. ALP is non-examinable, so parents can ask how projects fit alongside assessed subjects and how specialist opportunities are allocated.
