How to choose between them
Peicai and Peirce sit in the same COP band, same zone, same SYF standing — so the real question is what kind of school community your child thrives in. Peicai's 40-year heritage versus Peirce's broader CCA spread are the deciding factors here.
Consider Peicai Secondary School if…
- 40-year heritage signals deep alumni networks and stable school culture
- Smaller CCA slate often means more dedicated coaching per activity
Consider Peirce Secondary School if…
- 24 CCAs gives students more room to explore and switch interests
- Newer campus in Bishan typically means more modern facilities
When COP is identical, trust your gut on culture — visit both on open house day.

Peicai Secondary School
Peicai Secondary was established in 1984 from Parry Secondary and Hwi Yoh Secondary, initially using the latter’s facilities. The school says its name combines the Chinese names of its two predecessors and means nurturing talents. Its current ALP pages describe Seek. Make. Advocate, while MOE’s school-history body still describes The Science of Food. The current school publication is used for the programme account below; the older description is not silently treated as the same curriculum. Past programmes and predecessor memories need their own dates and context when comparing with today’s school.
Seek. Make. Advocate was co-created with SUTD for Secondary 1–2. The common tier uses blended learning, coding, video editing and data analytics to investigate social causes, with Microbits or augmented reality among the tools for prototypes. Themes named include mental wellness and animal welfare. Selected project groups then pitch to the community and explore implementation with organisations. Those pitches are a further opportunity, not proof that every prototype is adopted or that all pupils work with an external partner. Programme aims such as resilience are not independently measured results.
Peirce Secondary School
Peirce Secondary began in 1994 with 356 Secondary 1 pupils on Bishan Park Secondary’s premises, moving to Sin Ming Walk in February 1995. PRIME upgrading added an indoor sports hall before the school returned to its campus in December 2008; synthetic turf followed in June 2011. The merger with Bishan Park took effect on 2 January 2018, retaining the Peirce name and Sin Ming Walk site. Earlier accounts from either school are part of that history, but their buildings, teachers and programmes cannot be assumed to describe the merged school today.
The school’s September 2026 page describes a STEM ALP introduced in 2025. All lower-secondary pupils receive Tier 1 coding with microcontrollers, responsible AI use and design thinking, including makerspace work with 3D printers and laser cutters. Secondary 1 examples include a robotic grand prix; Secondary 2 projects become more complex and may connect to VIA community needs. Tier 2 adds advanced projects and a four-year pathway with Singapore Polytechnic for interested pupils. Further competition and enrichment opportunities depend on interest and aptitude, rather than being guaranteed to everyone.
