Get to know each school
Cedar Girls' Secondary School
Cedar Girls’ Secondary was established in 1957 at its Sennett Estate premises with 18 teachers. Its history describes a track-and-field tradition dating to the 1960s, single-session schooling from 1992 and autonomous status in 1996. The Victoria-Cedar Alliance began in 2012. The history page also announces rebuilding of the track in 2026; it does not confirm completion. These are secondary-school milestones, distinct from the similarly named Cedar Primary and its mergers.
For the 2027 intake, the DSA page distinguishes a four-year SEC Programme from the six-year Victoria-Cedar Alliance IP, with four years at Cedar and two at Victoria Junior College. The IP page describes collaboration in CCAs, leadership and talent development. The FAQ says some pupils may be invited to consider changing track after lower secondary, based on performance and learning disposition. It also says Cedar has no affiliated junior college; IP progression to VJC should not be confused with an affiliation bonus for SEC applicants.

- Frequently Asked Questions
Raffles Girls' School (Secondary)
RGS dates its establishment to 1879. Its historical milestones explain that the primary and secondary sections separated in 1959: the secondary section moved to Anderson Road, while the primary section remained at Queen Street as RGPS. RGS and RI introduced the six-year Raffles Programme in 2004. RGS moved from Anderson to Braddell in October 2019. The current admissions overview describes the IP as a six-year commitment and strongly discourages transfers, with transfers to other IP schools allowed only in exceptional circumstances. Families should consider the whole pathway, rather than only Year 1 entry.
The Research Studies curriculum begins with Year 1 skills in inquiry, research design, information literacy and data collection. Year 2 moves into school-based projects, specialised clusters or creative problem-solving, including planning, analysis, report writing and oral presentation. Year 3 intensifies this work and includes public presentation or publication opportunities. The page describes possible external mentorship with universities and other institutions, rather than guaranteeing a particular placement to every pupil. Families can ask how project topics, teams and mentors are allocated, and how research deadlines interact with ordinary subject work.
