Get to know each school

Evergreen Secondary School

Evergreen Secondary opened in 2000 with 320 students and 12 teaching staff, moving to 11 Woodlands Street 83 in June that year. MOE's history records its North Zone Centre of Excellence in National Education designation in 2003, followed by NE awards in 2004 and 2008. Later developments included communication-based applied learning in 2015 and sports-based learning for life in 2016. These are dated milestones rather than a present-day ranking. They help explain why public communication, citizenship and sport recur in the current programme descriptions.

The current ALP is titled Bilingual Voices, Active Citizens. It links communication in English and Mother Tongue Languages with discussion of real-world and civic issues. Its lower-secondary Music component uses writing and performing raps to help pupils express their perspectives. This gives a concrete classroom activity behind the programme name. The page's introductory claim about musical talent is broader than the detail in its body: it does not establish specialist music tuition, an audition pathway or proven gains in bilingual proficiency for every pupil.

Regent Secondary School

Regent Secondary opened in 2000 at Unity Secondary School before moving to 50 Choa Chu Kang North 5 in 2001. MOE records a concert-band niche in 2013, an underwater-robotics Applied Learning Programme in 2014 and community and youth leadership as its Learning for Life Programme from 2016. The current ALP page identifies resource sustainability as the focus from 2024. Families should therefore distinguish historical robotics descriptions from the programme described for today’s pupils, rather than assume the earlier provision remains unchanged.

The resource-sustainability ALP links food and water issues with subjects including English, Geography, Science, Mathematics and Nutrition & Food Science. Published examples include interdisciplinary learning journeys, student-initiated learning during home-based learning and cohort VIA projects with community partners. A second tier offers external forums, competitions and conservation advocacy. These are described opportunities, not confirmation that every pupil takes every trip or competition. ALP is non-examinable, so parents can ask how projects fit alongside assessed subjects and how specialist opportunities are allocated.
