Juying Secondary School
Juying began in 1995 at Pioneer Secondary while the former Jurong Institute premises were adapted. It moved to 33 Jurong West Street 91 on 12 June 1995 and officially opened on 18 July 1997. A 1999 extension enabled a single session; PRIME work from 2009–2012 added facilities including an indoor sports hall and dance studio. The heritage page records an earlier arts LLP, but the present LLP page describes PASSION! @ Juying, so the older programme title should not be carried forward as its current framework.
The oracy ALP gives cohort workshops and curriculum speaking opportunities from Secondary 1 to 4–5. The page describes lower-secondary show-and-tell work, Secondary 3 research and presentation training, and graduating-level interview, application-writing and e-portfolio preparation for EAE or DSA. Interested Secondary 1–2 pupils may enter a talent-development route. Speech and Drama members, student leaders and the talent pool have more extensive opportunities, such as emceeing, reporting or ambassadorship. Those selected roles and competitions are distinct from the common cohort training.
Serangoon Secondary School
Serangoon Secondary traces its origins to Serangoon English School on Simon Road in 1928. It stopped primary classes in 1957, moved to Lowland Road and adopted its current name in 1967, then relocated to 11 Upper Serangoon View in 2001. Earlier periods included feeding pupils to Raffles schools and offering pre-university classes, which ended in 1976. These are historical roles rather than present affiliations or courses. The school’s long history should be read separately from the programmes and subject options available to a new cohort.
The Future of Transportation ALP gives all Sec 1 pupils 3D modelling and printing in Semester 2, using Tinkercad to design prototypes. All Sec 2 pupils move to drone programming in Semester 1, using Tynker and applying ideas about flight through simulation, testing and debugging. Selected Sec 2–3 pupils extend their learning through Infocomm Club programmes. Upper-secondary Computing is an elective subject offered at G1, G2 and G3 levels to interested pupils who meet academic requirements. Introductory ALP participation therefore does not automatically secure a later Computing place.
