Loyang View Secondary School
Loyang View was established in 2018 through the merger of Loyang Secondary and Greenview Secondary. MOE’s history records design and engineering ALP and sports and outdoor education LLP from its founding year, a James Dyson Foundation partnership in 2021, and a student-designed polo shirt introduced in 2023. Its shared identity therefore has a specific recent beginning, even though families and alumni may remember the two predecessor schools. Historical awards are part of that record rather than a guarantee of a new pupil’s results.
The ALP describes Sec 1 pupils making solar cars from recycled materials and racing them, while Sec 2 investigates clean energy before designing a gadget for a sustainability problem. Sec 3 experiences include applied-science enrichment and work with Dyson engineers on air pollution and prototyping. All Sec 1 and 2 pupils have the opportunity to participate in STEM Playground. Families can ask how projects are assessed and which Sec 3 modules suit their child, rather than assuming an engineering partnership means every pupil receives the same industry placement.
Queenstown Secondary School
Queenstown Secondary began in 1956 as an all-boys technical school, initially using Jalan Eunos School before moving to Strathmore Avenue in January 1957. It admitted girls in 1971 and adopted its present name in 1993. After using a temporary Commonwealth Avenue site during rebuilding, it returned to Strathmore in 1997. The new building and QUEST Museum opened officially in 1999. This history explains the technical references in its crest and school song; it does not mean today’s pupils follow the former technical-school curriculum.
The June 2026 FutureLearn page explains that the school integrates its Applied Learning and Learning for Life programmes around environmental sustainability, community youth leadership and digital literacy, supported by maker education. S1 examples include Lower Seletar Reservoir field learning; S2 explores alternative energy and prototypes. S3 pupils work in teams on a community capstone project and can choose topics based on their interests. Published examples include promoting hawker culture. Overseas immersion is described for selected pupils, so it should not be treated as an entitlement for every child.
