Compassvale Secondary School
Compassvale Secondary began in 2000, spending its first six months at Sengkang Secondary before moving to Compassvale Crescent. The campus officially opened in 2002. MOE’s history records an aeronautics Applied Learning Programme and a community-and-youth-leadership Learning for Life Programme from 2016. The current programme pages show how those themes have developed: aeronautics now sits within ACES, while the current Learning for Life Programme is Green Compass, unified in 2024.
ACES covers Aeronautics, Coding, Engineering and Sustainability. All lower-secondary students take the formal programme, exploring flight principles and working on coding, engineering or green-design projects. The school gives examples such as a motor-operated toy car, a stationery holder with a potted plant and LED memo sheet, and a solar charger. Students completing the programme at the end of Secondary 2 receive Singapore Polytechnic’s Young Engineers Award (ALP). STEM elective modules and visits extend the classroom work. Competitions and specialist CCAs offer further development for talented or strongly interested students; participation in every extension is not promised.

Queenstown Secondary School
Queenstown Secondary began in 1956 as an all-boys technical school, initially using Jalan Eunos School before moving to Strathmore Avenue in January 1957. It admitted girls in 1971 and adopted its present name in 1993. After using a temporary Commonwealth Avenue site during rebuilding, it returned to Strathmore in 1997. The new building and QUEST Museum opened officially in 1999. This history explains the technical references in its crest and school song; it does not mean today’s pupils follow the former technical-school curriculum.
The June 2026 FutureLearn page explains that the school integrates its Applied Learning and Learning for Life programmes around environmental sustainability, community youth leadership and digital literacy, supported by maker education. S1 examples include Lower Seletar Reservoir field learning; S2 explores alternative energy and prototypes. S3 pupils work in teams on a community capstone project and can choose topics based on their interests. Published examples include promoting hawker culture. Overseas immersion is described for selected pupils, so it should not be treated as an entitlement for every child.
